Q: Do I get price breaks for ordering larger quantities?

A: If you are printing digitally (quick turn time, fewer than 2,500 pieces), the answer is NO. If you are thinking of printing Off-Set Press (longer turn time and larger quantities)…then your answer is YES.

Q: What is the difference between Digital printing & Offset Printing?

A: As graphic designers, we are well aware of the confusion that can occur when talking about printing your marketing brochures, business cards or even your letterhead. There are so many choices in paper weights, paper finish and paper colors - there are also different printing processes! How do you know which one is best for you and your business? While there are advantages and disadvantages to both, we’ve tried to explain the difference between the two most common processes below. Still not making sense? Call us...we’d be happy to discuss in more detail!

Digital Printing vs. Offset/Litho Printing

Digital printing is the reproduction of digital images on physical surface, such as common paper or photographic paper, film, cloth, plastic, etc.

Offset printing is a technique where the inked image is transferred (or “offset”) from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to the printing surface.

Digital can be differentiated from litho or offset printing in many ways, such as:

• Every impression made onto the paper can be different, as opposed to making several hundred or thousand impressions of the same thing from one set of plates, as in traditional methods.

• The ink or toner does not absorb into the paper, as does conventional Ink, but forms a layer on the surface. It generally requires less waste in terms of chemicals used and paper wasted in set up.

• It is excellent for rapid prototyping, or small print runs which means that it is more accessible to a wider range of designers.

• Offset printing is most commonly used for high volume commercial printing as its image quality is much higher and more consistent than that of the digital press.

Q: Do I have to pay a set-up/design fee if I use the same flyer or postcard template?

A: Yes. A good way to think about it is for each new property address, you will pay a new set-up/design fee.

Q: Is there a way to get around the delivery fee?

A: Yes, you can come pick them up from our office on Bee Caves or at Ginny’s off 290 E.

Q: How will I know when I can pick up my order?

A: Someone will call you as soon as the orders arrive to our office. If you’re picking up from Ginny’s, you can pick them up during their business hours , 8am to 5pm. This excludes special items. The designer will let you know.

Q: How should I respond with changes to my order?

A: The best way is to respond through email – that way we will have a record of any changes and we will respond as soon as possible. If you think it needs more explanation, you can ask us to call you. That way we will be ready to work on your order when we speak with you.

Q: Is there any way I can get my order today?

A: Yes….if you approved it to print prior to 3pm the prior day, excluding Friday. Our printing is done overnight and cannot be ready in the same day.

Q: How will I know you have received my order?

A: You will receive a proof and a phone call from us by the end of the next business day. We process requests in the order we receive them (with the exception of rush orders).

Q: What is a rush order?

A: A “Rush Order” is a special order that gets pushed to the head of our queue. If you have a template job you need by the next day, place a Rush Order by 12pm. You will receive a proof within a couple of hours. Approve it by 3pm and you’ll have it the next day inside Austin. The design set-up fee is doubled.

Q: What’s the difference between a "property flyer" and a "property brochure"?

A: A flyer is 8.5x11” and can be one- or two-sided. A brochure is 11x17,” double-sided, and folded in half for your viewing pleasure.

Q: Can I send you a file that I have created and then have you print it straight from that?

A: In some cases, yes, in others, no. For instance, if you’ve created a flyer design (laid out as an 8.5” x 11” format, say) and exported it as a .pdf file, we can place that in our graphics program and set it up to be print-ready. Other program’s files such as Word, Powerpoint or Publisher are not compatible with the design programs we use and would have to be recreated by us in order to then be ready to print. We can copy and paste information such as descriptions, bullet points, etc. from these incompatible files but any design or layout done on your part won’t transfer

Q: What process do you use to print my flyers/postcards/brochures?

A: Our printer uses a digital printer which allows us to offer our quick turnaround times and the ability, unlike most home printers, to print a full bleed to the edge of your piece. We also offer the ability to automatically score (make a light indentation for ease of folding) notecards and fold brochures for a clean, crisp and professional looking printed piece.

Q: I can’t seem to get my photos to email correctly and they are bouncing back. What’s going on?

A: Any number of things could be wrong if your email, with lots of attached photos, gets bounced back to your email account. Usually it is because the total file size of all the attached photos exceeds our email inbox’s size limit of 10MBs (megabytes). Try attaching the photos one or two at a time and sending them in a series of emails instead of one big one that will get bounced back. The good news is, if your photos are a couple of MB’s each, they’re probably pretty good quality and will print well and look sharp!

Q: When will I be billed for my order, and how can I pay the balance?

A: You will be billed for your order on the day the order ships. Most accounts will be asked to keep a credit card on file in order to pay the balance at the time of billing. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Checks, and Cash.
